Call For Nominations 2016

Nominate-NowThe OKAMFT Board of Directors and Elections Committee invite you to participate in shaping our organization by nominating individuals for open board and elections committee positions. You may nominate for as many positions as you wish.

The Elections Committee is looking for nominations that are representative of the breadth of our division. Only one nomination is needed to ensure the candidate will be considered. We encourage you to nominate the hard-working, dedicated member(s) who will represent our membership well in division governance.

Please also consider new OKAMFT members, who meet the below qualifications, when making nominations. Please be sure you get permission from the individual before making your nomination.
Consider the following qualifications as you offer nominations:

  • A clear, long-term vision for OKAMFT and the profession.
  • A willingness and ability to complete the work on a board or elections committee, including intensive committee research and discussion.
  • The ability to gather and integrate information, work toward a consensus, and make decisions.
  • Experience with envisioning, planning, and developing ideas and programs.
  • Knowledge and/or experience at some level of leadership.
  • Comfort and ability to work with diversity.

Nominees for the Board and Elections Committee must hold Clinical Fellow membership in AAMFT and OKAMFT. Student and Pre-Clinical Representatives must also be members in good standing of AAMFT/OKAMFT.

The following five (5) positions are open for nominations for the 2016 election. The terms for these positions will start January 1, 2017. The position duties, as described in the bylaws, are noted:

  • Board Member (term of 3 years) – One position to be filled.
    • Board members shall exercise all powers of the Division, except as specifically prohibited by the bylaws and AAMFT by laws, and to exercise authority over all Divisional business
      and funds. Each board member is entitled to one (1) vote and may take part and vote in person only.
  • Elections Committee (term of 3 years, non-voting position) – One position to be filled.
    • The Elections Committee shall prepare a slate of nominees for Officer, Director, and Elections Committee positions as pro- vided in the bylaws and in rules and procedures
      adopted by the Board of Elections. The Elections Committee shall prepare a slate containing at least two nominees for each position and shall determine the eligibility and
      willingness of each nominee to stand for election.
  • Secretary (term of 3 years)
    • The Secretary shall serve a term of three years. The Secretary shall keep the records of all business meetings of the Division and meetings of the Board, shall direct the distribution of minutes and reports as authorized by these bylaws and by the Board, and shall be responsible for all official correspondence of the Division.
  • Student Board Member (term of 1 year, non-voting position)
  • Pre-Clinical Board Member (term of 1 year, non-voting position)

Write-in voting shall be allowed, provided the write-in candidates are eligible for election and have agreed to serve if elected. Ballots shall be counted by the board or by tellers designated by the Board.  In keeping with AAMFT/OKAMFT’s commitment to diversity, we are particularly interested in nominees that reflect diversity of education, training, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender, age, religion, physical ability, cultural background, employment, and/or professional settings.

Please use the enclosed nomination form to nominate those who will represent our membership well in division governance.  Please be sure the nominee meets the eligibility qualifications outlined on the attached form. Then submit the form to

    I lived in St Bernard Parish during Katrina What is the next step. Like thousands of others I lost everything that day. What most people do7n8#21&;t get we lost our community and way of life.
