About Cameron University

Cameron University is located in Lawton, OK and offers a Master of Science of Behavioral Science with three different Psychology tracks.  The General track, the Counseling track, and the Marriage and Family track.  The General track requires 33 credit hours and the Counseling and Marriage and Family track both require 48 credit hours.  To successfully complete the Graduate program at Cameron University, all students must complete the program within 6 years and pass a final comprehensive exam.

The Marriage and Family track started in 2011.  Dr. Mary Dzindolet is the chair of Cameron University’s Psychology department.  Dr. Joanni Sailor, Dr. Thom Balmer, and Dr. Kevin Garrett are the faculty for the Marriage and Family track.  All three are Licensed Martial and Family Therapists, Oklahoma State approved supervisors, and AAMFT approved supervisors.

At the end of the Counseling and Marriage and Family tracks, students are required to secure an external practicum site in the community to gain experience in the mental health field.  This coming August will be the grand opening of the Cameron Psychology Clinic which will provide students a secondary practicum site to grow their skills.  Students will split their time between both clinics, gaining invaluable experience.   The required practicum hours are 300 hours as required by the State of Oklahoma.
